Saturday April 22 it’s Raw Milk Cheese Appreciation Day, an international celebration of raw milk cheese. All around the world, cheesemakers, stores and cheesemongers will be celebrating this day with different events.
At Lamp Post Cheese, all our cheeses are made with raw cow’s milk. Cheeses made with unpasteurized milk, raw milk typically have more complex flavors. The unique microflora naturally present in the milk are responsible for these flavors. Pasteurization of the milk eliminates this flora and reduces the production of unique flavors. The microflora present in the milk are also characteristic of the geographic location and nutrition of the animals, and provides a local flavor to the cheese. French call it “terroir”, unique attributes associated with location. Lamp Post cheeses are truly a local product with all the terroir intact!
On Saturday, we will be celebrating #RawMilk Cheese Appreciation Day at our stand in Findlay Market from 8 am until 2 pm. Come by to try some samples!.
We started selling at Findlay Market two weeks ago and things are going great. We are at the Farmer’s Shed every Saturday from 8am until 2pm. Thanks to everyone who stopped by and bought some cheese. We have sold out every time! We’ll bring more cheese next Saturday!
Event at Crooked Handle
Our next event is on May 12 at Crooked Handle Brewery Co located in Springboro. We’ll be selling cheese flights from 4pm until 8pm. Come hang out with us at this awesome brewery!
Since we have been selling out so often we have had to limit online sales. But if you live in the greater Cincinnati area you can still be friend of the post and get Lamp Post Cheese delivered every month!
